The family of Barry Wayne Bailey is profoundly saddened at his passing at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre peacefully on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the age of 79 with his loving wife and sons by his side. Barry was the beloved husband of Carmel, devoted father of David and Bryan, and adoring grandpa of Ella and Jay. Barry was born in Treherne, Manitoba on April 16, 1939 and moved to Thunder Bay at an early age. He was employed at Great Lakes Paper (Bowater) for 37 years before retiring in 1997. In his earlier days he was a keen bowler and pool player. Later Barry enjoyed gardening, puttering in the garage and “playing” with his 1955 Ford. Family camping, trip to Europe, PEI, Boston, especially several trips to Toronto to visit Bryan and his family were memorable. He watched many sports and always had one or another playing on TV. Barry was mechanically inclined and could fix most anything in and around the home, as well as helping out neighbours. He enjoyed a coffee or a beer with old and new friends and his dry sense of humour and “one-liners” brought many a laugh. Barry and Carmel were married for 55 years and he was very supportive of his family. He took great pride in their accomplishments and spending time with them was most important to him.
Barry is survived and deeply missed by his wife Carmel, sons David and Bryan, daughter-in-law Vicki, grandchildren Ella and Jay, sister Allison, brothers-in-law Jim, Edward and David Bruzzese, Dave Shannon, sisters-in-law Darlene, Patti, Mavourneen, nieces, nephews, and in-laws Glenda and John. He was predeceased by his parents Anne and Leslie, brother Bev, mother-in-law and father-in-law Mary and Sam Bruzzese, and sister-in-law Jean Labelle.
Funeral services for the late Barry Wayne Bailey will be held on Friday, January 4, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church with reception to follow in the Church hall immediately after the service. Cremation has taken place and interment will be held at St. Andrew’s Cemetery after the reception.
