MARCHAND- Rev. Mr. Leo Joseph Marchand, age 86 years passed away peacefully in the T.B.R.H.S.C. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Leo was born in Grande Pointe, Ontario on January 24, 1932, the son of Remi and Alma Marchand. He married Mae Goudreau on January 31, 1959 and together they had 6 children. A man who cared deeply for his family, Leo was extremely proud of his 6 children and loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. He was a very social man with a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed sharing jokes and playing cards with family and friends. Leo was a man of strong faith and became a Deacon in the Roman Catholic Church with the hope of being able to help comfort the sick. Leo worked with Ontario Steel in Chatham before moving to Dorion where he began his career as a Commercial Fisherman. A hard working man, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, working with his tractors, woodworking and gardening, he was known as the “Garlic King” in Dorion. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Mae, children: Marc (Ronda), Claudette (Bruce) Nuttall, Pierre (Hilary), and Gisele (Mike) Smith; 14 grandchildren, brothers Clifford (Marilyn) and Ernest (Christine), sister Annete, brother-in-law Aurele Tellier as well as by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his son Edmond, grandson Justin, brother Maurice and sister Aline Tellier. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 when family and friends will gather in St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G.. The interment will take place at Mountainside Cemetery in Dorion, Ontario. Following the interment service all are invited to join the family for a reception and time of fellowship at the Dorion Community Centre. Visitation for friends will be held on Monday from 5-7 p.m. with the Vigil Service beginning at 7 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street.
